Support Mason's Sustainability Programs Donate a Little or a Lot!

Many sustainability programs pay for themselves in money saved, costs avoided, or income generated, but not all of them. Regardless, they are all equally important. To keep Mason's push toward sustainability moving, consider donating a little or a lot to one of our two existing funds: The Storm Sustainability Scholarship Fund: This fund offers scholarships to students studying in any of the Green Leaf academic programs. At this time, the fund offers only one $1000 scholarship annually, but with the number of programs and student interest in these programs growing, we would like to be able to offer support to these students. Consider making a tax-deductible donation to the Peter and Marjorie Storm Sustainability Scholarship Fund.

The Sustainability Programs Fund: In 2011, Mason stepped up its investment in sustainability through the allocation of a $100,000 annual grant fund. This new Patriot Green Fund [link to pgf.gmu.edu] grant program invests in student-, faculty- and staff-led sustainability research and projects. However, in order to affect major changes, we need major funding. Consider making a tax-deductible donation to the Sustainability Program Fund, and feel free to specify what you would like the money to be used for. Some examples might be: build a solar array, build a greenhouse, install solar lighting in an academic building, or start a green job training program through the Mason Sustainability Institute. On the Mason Gives website, under Donation Allocation, use the Other Established Fund box to donate to these programs, and then type in the name of the program in the text box to the right, in addition to adding Comments about what kinds of projects you would like to see funded with your donation.
