FAQs

What is sustainability, really, and what does it mean to me and Mason?

Sustainability encompasses all aspects of life on campus, from water usage to community engagement and everything in between. It is about how we all impact our planet, but most importantly how our actions as individuals and as a university impact others sharing this Earth of ours. We all have a chance to change the world, and it's our personal choices that determine whether that change will be a positive or negative one. One voice can make a difference at Mason - don't be afraid to speak up and get involved.

How do I get involved?

There are many ways to get involved. Are you a student? Are you faculty or staff? You can get easily hooked into what's going on on campus by joining a Working Group within the Sustainability Council. There are many people already hard at work on developing projects to improve the university's sustainability in each area (for example, landscaping, water, energy, recycling). Some are further along than others in their mission, but those that are less developed give you an opportunity to lead. Your thoughts and ideas and energy
