The Office of Sustainability (OoS) & the Institute for a Sustainable Earth (ISE) are pleased to announce the theme for this year’s Earth Month: “Mason Patriots for our Planet.” In addition, we’re partnering with EARTHDAY.ORG — the organization behind the global observance of Earth Day — for the second year in a row!

In April, the Mason Nation hosts many programs, events, and initiatives to celebrate Earth Month and exemplify our university’s commitment to a just and sustainable future for all. OoS and ISE are working together throughout Earth Month to encourage Mason Patriots to make an impact!

No Dumping: Stormwater Drainage Marking

April 10 @ 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm

Polluted runoff is the number one cause of water pollution in Northern Virginia. Rainwater that washes streets, yards, and parking lots is sending chemicals, bacteria, and trash down the drain and into local creeks.

If we work together, we can end polluted runoff. Mason’s Facilities Land Development team will add outreach drainage labels to more than 50 storm inlets on the Fairfax Campus. Girl Scouts Troop 80115 of Woodbridge, VA will collaborate with the Facilities team for this effort.

For more information on how to participate in this initiative, please email and Your help is more than welcome.
