The Office of Sustainability (OoS) & the Institute for a Sustainable Earth (ISE) are pleased to announce the theme for this year’s Earth Month: “Mason Patriots for our Planet.” In addition, we’re partnering with EARTHDAY.ORG — the organization behind the global observance of Earth Day — for the second year in a row!
In April, the Mason Nation hosts many programs, events, and initiatives to celebrate Earth Month and exemplify our university’s commitment to a just and sustainable future for all. OoS and ISE are working together throughout Earth Month to encourage Mason Patriots to make an impact!
The Earth Day: Arcadia Mixtape
April 22 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
The Earth Day: Arcadia Mixtape event will showcase and use artist Sam Nester‘s Arcadia installation as a basis for the creation of other artistic works by collaborating artists. Performances will include singing, dancing, poetry, painting, and more – all from student artists! This event is presented by Mason Arts at Home.
Arcadia is an environmental public art installation by artist and musician, Sam Nester. Arcadia translates the biorhythms of medicinal and edible plants into music and light. It is accessible 24/7 online via the Mason Arcadia Twitch Livestream and will be in the Office of Sustainability’s President’s Park Hydroponic Greenhouse until December 2021.

Fun fact: Mason was the first public institution in the state of Virginia to earn AASHE STARS Gold in 2014, and the Princeton Review, the Sierra Club, and others recognize our achievements. Read why we command their attention.
